From the archive: green light
This post is the third in a series republishing out of print work from LOST FUTURES. This work by Christian Kitson first featured in LOST FUTURES volume 1: in search of lost time.
Echoing your literary hero, you stand at the end of your dock, reaching out into the dark towards glowing green hope on the opposite shore, fingertips clawing at cold lonely air.
You run towards blinding sunsets before the sun dips below the horizon, spending more time in amber afterglow as the fading warmth leaves your skin.
You’re cold on the garden grass, finally failing to pick out that one star among endless pinpricks of light, gazing into inky darkness.
You will run faster, stretch out your arms farther, but you will not catch that which pulls further away the more you stretch your hand towards it.
